Method & boundaries
Checks that are clear about their limits.
FileCheck is a client-side preflight for the CPSC Product Registry CSV. It is designed to surface common file defects before you start an upload—not to replace the CPSC workflow or professional judgment.
Initial V1 coverage
- CSV structure: unclosed quotes, blank or repeated headers, inconsistent row widths, and duplicate product/version pairs.
- Required V1 headers and values, including manufacturer identifiers and first-lab fields.
- Coded values, date formats and real calendar dates, key length limits, and update dependencies.
- Lab identity dependencies, component-testing fields, point-of-contact dependencies, and CSV-safe field values.
Not an answer to
- Whether a product requires a GCC, CPC, testing, a particular citation, or a Product Registry entry.
- Whether a test report, laboratory, certificate, product classification, or party record is accurate or sufficient.
- Submission to CPSC, customs filing, broker handoff, legal advice, or a guarantee that CPSC will accept a file.
Source basis
These checks are informed by the CPSC Product Registry CSV Upload Guide and related CPSC eFiling materials. The official CPSC template and guidance remain controlling; review your exported file against the current source before upload.
